Unlike how Kashmir has mostly been portrayed, Sargoshiyan is not just a story about the beauty of Kashmir but it also shows the countless stories from the Valley.
"This is the first ever Bollywood film which is premiered at Kashmir. The film has many local actors and it highlights real feel our Kashmir," said Amit Wanchoo, chairman of Space Communication, an event management and line production company based in Kashmir.
According to the report, talking about the film actor-producer Imran Khan said, "Bollywood movies mostly portrayed violence and bloodshed in Kashmir but 'Sargoshiyan' is absolutely different. Aggression in Kashmir always remained on the forefront in movies but with Sargoshiyan, we have attempted to show the real Jammu and Kashmir to the people."
He further added, "During his frequents Kashmir visits, I have often seen Kashmiri Pandits as well as Muslims surviving in harmony. If you travel to the interiors, you will know that the sarpanch of a village called Bandi is a Kashmiri Pandit and the caretaker of Shiva temple at Gulmarg is a 93-year-old priest Ghulam Mohammad Shiekh, who performs aarti every day. I want to bring out this side of Kashmir. "
The film will be screened in around 500 theaters in the country on May 19.
The film stars Indraneil Sengupta, Hassan Zaidi, Sara Khan, Aditi Bhatia, Khalid Siddiqui, Alok Nath, Fareeda Jalal, Tom Alter, Shahbaz Khan and prominent Kashmiri actors.
