J&K bags ‘Promising New Destination, Innovative Tourism’ awards at TTF Surat
Surat, September 10: J&K bagged the Most Promising New Destination for Toshamaidan and Most Innovative Tourism Product for Border Tourism awards at the Travel Trade Fair in Surat which concluded on Sunday.
Deputy Director Tourism Waseem Raja and CEO Billawar-Duggan Development Authority Sudarshan Kumar received the award for J&K at the TTF.
The team also had a successful interaction with the leading travel and tour operators of the Gujarat during TTF who assured to sell and promote Kashmir especially its newly developed destinations.
While expressing satisfaction over receiving awards at TTF Surat, Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah said state government is developing new off-beat destinations which are equally beautiful as the prime tourist resorts like Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
“Though our main USP is Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg hill stations but we are also promoting picturesque locations. We have recently organized Gurez Festival to promote virgin beauty of this border destination,” he said.
Director tourism Kashmir said participation in the road shows and the travel trade fairs is very important where hundreds of the leading travel agents and tour operators from across country and other parts of the world participate to sell and promote destinations for holidayers.
“Negative publicity to Kashmir is affecting tourists flow and to offset that we have embarked on aggressive marketing campaign. Participation in roads shows and travel trade shows promotes our destinations,” he said.
Deputy Director Tourism Waseem Raja said JK received overwhelming response from travel agents of the Gujarat who are eager to send travellers to Kashmir.
“Gujaratis have special love for Kashmir and they want to visit Kashmir. Our interaction with the tour operators from this state has been very fruitful who said they will send more and more travellers to Kashmir,” said Waseem.
The department also participated in the recently concluded annual convention of 33rd Indian Association of Tour Operators at Bhubaneswar. The department will also participate in more such travel trade shows to promote J&K.
