A team of 9 members led by Director Tourism Kashmir, Mr. Mahmood A. Shah set foot to explore Durninar-III, the HIGHEST alpine lake in Kashmir. And they brought back these breathtaking visuals that will leave you in complete awe!
Durninar-III (4610 mtrs.), recently discovered, is so far the highest alpine lake in Kashmir province of J&K state. The trek is 22 kms. to and fro starting from Sarbal village which is around 6 kms. from Sonamarg near Baltal road.
Durinar-III (4610 mtrs.) tops the Durinar-I (4200 mtrs.) and Durinar-II (4250 mtrs.) lakes by almost 400 mtrs. They accomplished this 22 kms. trek in a single day!
In this era of global warming , the increased snowmelt has resulted in the creation of lake on the top of mountains
By far this is the highest lake in Kashmir province and was previously unknown.
